A Taste of Lemon
Ok. So this might be a bit of a trick question. But what do you call a sweet lemon? And is there even such a thing? There is when that lemon is in Prosper’s Signature Body Butter. Treat yourself to moisturized skin while you enjoy this newest product in the signature line of the company that’s setting the standard for self-care and helping you to show up in each and every moment as the best version of you.
To help you make this moment even sweeter, here’s a checklist of 3 things you can do to enhance your self-care routine through mindfulness:
Mindfulness is incremental. Sometimes, it can be discouraging to think about mindfulness because the thought of it brings to mind pictures of priests and monks who seem to have reached some elevated state of consciousness only achieved after years of practice. Who could even try to measure up to that? Who has the time? Hold on, though. Mindfulness is incremental. What this means is that, if you’re someone whose mind is used to running at a speed of 100 miles a minute, mindfulness can start with slowing down for a set time to 60. Slowing down to 60 won’t be easy, but the goal is to set SMART stretch goals. Over time, you might be able to slow down to 0 in the times you’re practicing mindfulness. Or, your ultimate might be set to 30. That’s ok.
Become comfortable with you. Sometimes, slowing down and practicing mindfulness is harder because of the sound of your internal voice. With TVs, radios, streaming services, traffic, and other noise that fills your day, you can avoid the sound of your internal voice. But once those are gone, you’re left with you. There’s nothing left to hide behind. The lies you believe about yourself and who you should be become louder; that thing from your childhood you’re afraid of is still there and still frightening, and then there’s just being uncomfortable with being around you when it’s been a while since you’ve had to. Work through the discomfort. Become comfortable with you. Ask yourself questions. Write out the thoughts that come to mind. Do things that you like doing that get you used to being with you. Embrace the use of prompts to help you journal through the times when mindfulness becomes more difficult. Practicing mindfulness doesn’t have to mean journaling. It can mean taking a walk in nature, spending time learning a new recipe, practicing breathwork, or it can mean journaling. But sometimes unguided journaling can be difficult. This is why this month’s freebie for those registered for Prosper’s paid subscription box is a free resource with 300 prompts to help enhance your mindfulness journal.
